PETER STARK is Associate Director, Boston Ballet II, and Head of Men's Program, Boston Ballet School. Peter began his performing career with New York City Ballet and Boston Ballet and went on to be a leading dancer with The Washington Ballet. He was featured in a PBS telecast of Washington Opera's La Rondine staring Jose Carras. Mr. Stark trained at the School of American Ballet. He danced works by George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, and Ralph Lemmon.
His mentor, Fernando Bujones, hired Stark as assistant to the artistic director at Ballet Mississippi and later as school director at Orlando Ballet. Stark is the founding artistic director of Next Generation Ballet (NGB) in Tampa, which won several best school awards.
Peter Stark studied business administration at Strayer University in Washington, D.C. and judges dance internationally. He is a renowned ballet teacher and coach with students dancing in every major American ballet company and several European companies. He coached gold medal winners for International Ballet Competitions (IBC) in New York City, Cape Town, Seoul and Helsinki. His students have won the Prix de Lausanne, Princess Grace Awards and the New York finals of Youth America Grand Prix. Stark was named outstanding teacher at the Youth America Grand Prix finals.
Mr. Stark has served on grant panels for the National Endowment for the Arts. His honors include the Florida Arts Educator of the Year, "Peter Stark Day" in the city of Orlando, Florida, and the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine.
