Free Style Dancers and Choreographers Competition
Competition in Addition to Classical and Contemporary /Neoclassical Competitions.
-
In Free Style Dance, dancers and choreographers are encouraged to showcase their unique style and interpretation of the music. The choreography may include various dance techniques, such as ballet, contemporary, ballroom dance or fusion. Not allowed are hip hop, breakdance, mime, acrobatic dance, tap, jazz and any other form of movement not having its roots in classical dance.
Choreographers and dancers have total liberty to choose their movements and transitions, allowing them to express their emotions and personality through their dance.
While leaving room for personal interpretation and creativity, this VKIBC new category “Free Style Dance“ will have a selection of mandatory music requirements. It adds a layer of challenge and structure but still allowing for artistic freedom.
Music selection, within a framework of creative choreography, is what will make Free Style Dance an exciting and dynamic style that allows dancers and choreographers to truly express themselves on stage. Open to choreographers and dancers 11 and up, no age limit.
-
Dancers can perform any style with the exception of hip hop, breakdance, mime, acrobatic dance, tap, jazz and any other form of movement not having its roots in classical dance. Dancers can be on pointe, demi-pointe, bare feet, soft shoes or heels.
