Nina Buisson

Is a French-born choreographer and dance educator, currently based in New York, United States. She received a scholarship from the Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance in Monte Carlo under the direction of Marika Besobrasova and completed her musical training at the Prince Rainier III Music Academy in Monaco. Nina holds a BFA in Dance and a professional pedagogical diploma in ballet and modern dance from the Cultural Ministry of France, Aix-en-Provence. Since 2010, she has been a recipient of The Malatray Victoria Foundation for the Arts and has been recognized by the American Guild of Musical Artists for her extraordinary ability as a dance teacher and coach.

As the Artistic Director of Nina Buisson Contemporary Move, Nina has collaborated with a variety of companies in Europe and America, performing in dance, physical theater, and film. Her choreographic work has earned critical acclaim and top awards at prestigious international competitions, including "The Spirit Award for Choreographic Excellence" at The Elan Awards 2010 in New York.

Nina’s students have excelled in renowned competitions worldwide, including the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC), the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the Varna International Ballet Competition, TANZOLYMP in Berlin, and the Helsinki International Ballet Competition. Many of her students have won top prizes, such as a top 12 placement at YAGP in 2022 and gold medals at the Delaware National Ballet Competition in 2022 and 2023.

Her work has been showcased at notable venues, including the Steinhardt School of Education at NYU, the Juilliard Dance Department, Symphony Space, and Miller Theatre at Columbia University, as well as internationally at venues like the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

In addition to her performance work, Nina has taught Master Classes, workshops, and seminars in countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. She has previously been a faculty member at Peridance Capezio Center and Valentina Kozlova Dance Conservatory and served as a judge for the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC) from 2015 to 2021. Nina has also choreographed compulsory contemporary numbers for VKIBC and continues to coach and choreograph for prominent institutions like Ellison Ballet Academy. She has recently started coaching and choreographing for Singur Ballet.

Nina is known for her innovative approach, which draws inspiration from music, theater, and film. She strongly advocates for cross-disciplinary collaboration and sees art as a transformative tool for both personal and social change.
